The pads are ~50 miles from the theme parks. For a day-of decision: if the status is “Go for Launch”, the drive to Titusville or Cocoa Beach takes about an hour — leave two hours early for big launches.

How many rocket launches happen in Florida each year?
Florida’s Space Coast is the busiest launch region on Earth, and in recent years it has flown well over a hundred orbital missions annually across its two sites. In practice that means several launches most weeks, the majority of them SpaceX Falcon 9 flights.
Which Florida launch site does a given rocket fly from?
Most routine missions lift off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, chiefly pad SLC-40. Kennedy Space Center’s LC-39A is reserved for larger flights — Falcon Heavy, crewed Dragon missions — and LC-39B is NASA’s SLS pad for Artemis. The two sites are about 15 minutes apart and share the same public viewing spots.
Can you watch a Florida rocket launch from the Orlando theme parks?
Occasionally, and not well. The pads are roughly 50 miles east, so a daytime launch is a faint contrail if you catch it at all. Night launches and Falcon Heavy flights genuinely do light up the sky over central Florida. For a real view, drive to Titusville or Cocoa Beach — about an hour, and worth leaving two hours early for a high-profile launch.
What is the best free place to watch a Florida launch?
The Titusville riverfront — Space View Park and Parrish Park — is the classic free choice, with a direct line of sight across the Indian River to both LC-39A and the Cape pads. Cocoa Beach and the Cape Canaveral beaches are free and wide open. Jetty Park and Playalinda Beach are closer but charge a small entry or parking fee.
How likely is a Florida launch to be delayed?
Likely enough to plan for. Afternoon thunderstorms in summer, upper-level winds and range conflicts all push launches, and slips of a day or two are routine.
